Do You Remember?

Happy Tuesday!

Hello, hello, hello, and cheers to another day! Even though I begin with cheerful greetings, it doesn’t mean I am always excited for another day.

Though I feel grateful and thankful right now, I tend to sink into darkness quite often, and so I need to keep myself in check so I don’t dip too low.

Dipping too low into depression can be very dangerous, as you probably already know.

I am just coming out of a dark time, and it has only been a little over a month since I was in the depths of despair.

During moments like that, it can be easy to forget about how good God is. It’s like I can tell myself and recite things in my head about His goodness, but when I’m severely depressed, they feel like just words.

Giving Thanks-

Thankfully, they are not just words for me today, and I can be thankful for that in itself. I have to go get another EKG this morning and am not looking forward to it because I DESPISE them, but I remain thankful nonetheless.

A verse jumped out at me this morning that I want to share:

Psalm 92:1-

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High.

It feels like a very simple concept right now, but when the darkness hits, giving thanks can be the last thing we want to do.

Today feels brighter, and I am truly grateful for that! I hope your day is bright as well and that you can find it in yourself to thank our Creator. 🙂

Today’s Poem-

Last night, when I wrote this poem, it came out all ‘rhymie,’ which I do not especially like. Even though I like poetry and obviously write it, rhymes can get on my nerves at times. Free verse is more up my alley, but today’s poem wanted to rhyme. You may or may not like rhyming, so I thought I would warn you in advance! 🙂

Anyway, here we go!

Do You Remember

Do you remember her smile?

Do you remember that gleam in her eye-

The one that made you think

She must know something you didn’t?

When did it die?
When did it die?

You are left wondering why

As you watch her walk by

Now, with her head to the ground

Something happened when you weren’t around

And instead of that happy-go-lucky way about her

She’s just a shell of what once was

And now she is gone

Do you dare ask her what is the matter?

Will this make it worse?

And are you willing to invest

The potential time it might take

To be there to support her-

To try to adore her, and help her out

Of this mess?

Or do you just let her walk by-

Ignoring her cry?

Neglecting to try

To help a fellow soul out of the mire?

Do you remember her smile?
Do you remember that gleam in her eye?

Maybe you will choose to help her this time

Figure out all the “why’s”
It’s worth a try

Better than turning your head

As she continues to cry

What About You?

Is there someone in your life that could use a little comfort today? Don’t let another moment go by without saying a little prayer for them, or sending them a note or text, telling them how much you truly care. We only have this moment in time!

Here is another verse that spoke to me today-

Psalm 94:17-19

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, my foot slippeth: thy mercy, O LORD, helped me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.

Until next time, stay safe, and be blessed!
