Are You Satisfied?

What is it You desire?

When we live our lives constantly wanting to feel a sense of gratification it can tend to leave us very disappointed. No matter what we seem to do, the moments of satisfaction soon pass and we are left looking forward to the next pleasurable experience.

When we live our lives constantly trying to feed our longing for satisfaction, it can end up with us feeling very disappointed. No matter what we seem to do, the moments of satisfaction soon pass, and we are left looking forward to the next gratifying experience.

We can get caught up living in a futuristic mindset, aways chasing the next big thing, trying to fulfil our every desire.

What does the Bible say?

The bible has some things to say about how we really should go about fulfilling our need for satisfaction.

Psalm 107:9 (ESV)
For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Some people read this verse and think that no matter what we ask God for, we will get it. They overlook the part that says to delight yourself in the LORD. If we were really doing that, we wouldn’t ask God for foolish things, or luxuries.

My prayer has been to ask God to be the delight of my heart. I can’t accomplish this alone because my human nature wants to be selfish and greedy for the things of this world.

When we pray for God to be the desire of our hearts, little by little, our hearts begin to want more of God, He becomes our focus, and in him, we can be glad.

Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

This is one of the most awesome promises that God gives to us! To know that the God of the universe will always be with us no matter what brings peace to my soul.

Though I don’t know the mystery of how God accomplishes this, it doesn’t matter. I choose to believe in his promises and know he is capable of all things. Let’s praise him today for all he has done!

My Prayer-

Dear Heavenly Father,

Blessed be your holy name! Thank you for all you have done- even for what you did before you created us. You have wondrous ways that I can’t comprehend, and I stand in complete awe of you. I love you. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
