I Will Learn to Take Control Over My Mind
a journey of growth and development
getting better and better every day
learning to control my thoughts
and new coping skills along the way
.
thinking about contentment and gratitude
caring about what enters my body and mind
telling the negativity to vanish
leaving the misery of my past behind
.
forcing a smile upon my face
telling the cold, I know how to keep warm
thinking about the benefits of putting the work in
willing to fight past the hostile storm
.
finding reasons to laugh and appreciate
stepping on boulders as they all fall behind me
knowing I can win with small goals every day
the map of forgiveness lies right in front of me
.
I empty my mind of all anger and heartache
as I recreate a new narrative for my life
the past will no longer dictate my well-being
I will learn to take control of my mind
