I hope you are well! Thank you for visiting my poetry blog. I appreciate you being here!

This poem needs to go out with the end of the year, and be gone! I am preparing for a new mindset and must let go of the old. I plan to reach out for our Father’s hand and trust that He will pull me out from the ruins of the wreckage of my past.

I will continue to pray for Jesus to heal my pain. I hope you will reach out to Him as well.

I Felt the Daggers When You Held My Hand

I try to see and feel your situation

playing different scenarios in my mind

a hollowness drifts off into green forests

as echoes beg me to turn away

smiles and laughter glowing in the distance

realizing now it’s the distant past

sitting in a circle of one

kicking at the other empty chairs

you can’t dictate where my mind will travel

I have treasures pulsing through my brain

you won’t taint the pictures in my memory

I have no need to walk beside you now

I felt the daggers when you tried to hold my hand

I looked around and realized I was surrounded

It was now too late for me to try and find a remedy

you wouldn’t let me out when I was helpless

I won’t make the mistake of forgetting that now

I need to protect myself from you

and from extensions of my own flesh and blood
