Falling to the Ground

it felt like someone was playing Jenga with my brain
poking and prodding to see how they could bother me again
until finally, I came to my untimely end
and fell altogether to the ground

It’s Right There

who we were
who we will become
a new recognition between both
leading to somewhere in between
who we are now

Ungrateful Faces In My Rear-View Mirror

I picked my brain apart
trying to make sense of why I should keep you in my life
realizing nothing will ever work
I know I need to acknowledge the truth, move on, and try to accept it
because it will never make sense, so why dwell on it?
because my brain can be my enemy
and likes to remind me why I should be in pain
it gets brought up all over again
as I cringe because they end up thinking
“Oh, there, she’s at it again!”
I guess I don’t need to apologize for being human
and having actual emotions
I gave it my all for so many years
and have nothing to show for it
except for lost time
and ungrateful faces in my rearview mirror
