~I hope you enjoy today’s poem~
Awkward Love
you had something intriguing to say
I held my tongue
I didn’t want to ruin the moment
with a silly, nonsensical response
I had trouble looking into your eyes
but you gave me grace
and didn’t judge my reluctance
you didn’t mind repeating yourself
when my mind wandered off to other things
and no offence was taken
when it seemed, I wasn’t listening
you had mercy on my tendency to slip into dissociation
I have never met a person who could figure me out
I never wanted anyone to know
but when you are welcomed
into the arms of unconditional love
there is more room to be your creative self
and together, you both can grow
the light becomes more appealing
the doorway becomes the ceiling
as your hopes begin to soar
together, you complete each other
and over time, things keep getting better
it’s a sweetness like no other
and it’s what I have with you
