A Little Encouragement for the Day

We could always use a little encouragement to help us through the day. Some days we may need more than others. I began my day by listening to a lady who reads Bible verses aloud on Youtube, and it was really relaxing. I really enjoy listening to Bible verses with the harp playing in the background as well. Today I went searching for some encouraging Bible verses to give me a little pick-me-up. I hope you enjoy them too!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

This is such a great thing to read when you are beginning to feel your age and all of the aches and pains that come with it. I know that I definitely feel the wasting away that this verse describes, but to know that we can be renewed day by day on the inside brings new hope. Also, reminding us about the future gift of heaven really helps put our sufferings into perspective. 

 

Lamentations 3:22–23

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

It is so wonderful to know that His compassion is new every morning. We daily fall short in some way, and if we allowed ourselves, we could be shaming ourselves all day long. Instead, we can cling to the fact that God loves us and is full of compassion for us. He is ready to forgive us and to give us the strength to try again.   

 

2 Corinthians 1:3–4

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Sometimes I forget that our pain and sorrows could be used to show others compassion. When we are suffering it can be hard to see any good that could ever come out of it. Though it feels painful during the process, it can end up being priceless in the life of another person we can impact later on through practicing empathy.

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—  he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

These verses helped me after my dog,  Jady passed away, and then a few months later, my Dad. I remember walking around outside, looking up at the sky, and choosing to embrace God as my comforter. He watched over me and helped me through, just as He promised.

Something that has always spoken to me has been that God is near to the brokenhearted. For so many years, I lived in such a constant state of misery, I used that as a way to assure myself that God was near to me. Surely, if I was brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, as the Bible says, He must be near. Now that the cloud of depression has lifted, I know that I do not need to be miserable to have God by my side. He has promised to never leave His children or forsake them, and I am one of His children. 

 

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
