Hello, My Poetry and Writing Friends!

I hope you are well! Thank you for visiting my poetry blog. I appreciate you being here!

Someone I think about daily is my friend, who passed away in 1996, Natalie Mace. I wonder what life would have been like if the accident had never happened. I also wonder what would have happened if I had been able to move on. Sometimes it feels like I am just as stuck in grief as I was back then. The desire to close myself off from others because it hurts too much. I want to keep her close and never let her go. I sometimes grasp onto her so tight I start to look for her in others. Any resemblance of personality or characteristics draws me in. Ultimately, we are still friends, and no one can take Natalie away from me.

~I hope you enjoy today’s poem~

A Day in the Forest

you chase me around the tree
we run through the woods
under the shadows
of the branches, we hide
the sounds of pine needles
crunching under my feet
brings back memories as I keep running
I feel wild with the air flying through me
I fall into a pile of leaves and laugh like a child
so fun and free, we continue to play
in the forest, searching for fairies
and funny looking mushrooms
running with my imaginary friend
brings back memories of when things were real
