A Walk to Freedom
walking down the rickety country road
picking up rocks and pebbles along the way
trying to find the perfect solitary stone
that will help to keep me grounded
I find a shiny purple little rock
and place it in my blue plaid pants pocket
my fingers massage its silky smoothness
I take a moment to squeeze the precious stone
and feel the strength within my fingers
mindfully, I close my eyes, feeling so alive
I take the rock and throw it across the still river
and watch it dance along the sparkling water
with the rocks release, I set myself free
letting all of the weight leave my body
I can start anew with a lighter step
dancing across the game of life
leaving a peaceful existence along my path
