Do you ever have those days you feel so tired that you wonder if you will ever have any energy again? For me, I freak out a little, thinking I must be headed for another season of low energy.
During times where we are tired, it’s easy to rush around, trying to get the essential things done, going almost on autopilot. Before we know it, the day is gone and we are back in bed. What did we forget? We forgot to open God’s word and feed upon much needed spiritual nourishment. This can easily happen on days when we are feeling tired and exhausted from everyday life.

It seems like the Devil will do anything to distract us from opening the Bible. A mundane job suddenly seems important, or you find yourself emerged on Facebook, or some other social media platform, and forget how you got there.
Even feeling tired can be a distraction where we think we have time to leave God out. It’s happened to me many times where I’ve been so tired that I had to go back to bed, and I’d tell myself that I’d get to my devotionals later, but usually, later would never come. Before I knew it, I was spiritually depleted. This can manifest in different ways that can be hard to recognize sometimes. It’s better to just keep feeding our souls on a consistent basis so we don’t know what it feels like to be spiritually dry.
Here are some Bible verses that remind us where our help comes from. When we are struggling, the best place to find comfort is in the Word of God!
Jeremiah 31:25
For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
This makes me think of a spiritual waterfall falling down upon me, replenishing me when I have no strength left.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the one we are actually doing good for is God. We are not here to please others. Those jobs we are doing are not meant to be praised by others, so when we do not get the appreciation we crave, we need to remember that we are doing all of these good things for God. In the end, He will reward us for it.
Isaiah 40:29
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
When I’m tired, I raise my hand to this verse and claim it as my own. We could all use more of His strength.
Psalm 62:5
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
Even on hectic days full of chaos, we can mentally rest in God’s presence with the assurance that He is taking care of us.
Romans 8:26-28
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
On especially difficult days, this is truly encouraging. Knowing that the Holy Spirit prays for us in ways that are not even possible for us is truly miraculous!
Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things…and the God of peace will be with you.
When things get off course, or when our attitude starts to go south, this verse can really get us back on track. Telling us what God wants us to think about shows us what is healthy mentally for us to dwell on. Another way to look at it is to think positive thoughts. It’s a good verse to end things on, as well as begin the day upon.
