Hello, my Poetry and Writing Friends! 🙂
I hope you are well! Thank you for visiting my poetry blog. I appreciate you being here!
Besides posting my poetry, I have been silent for several months. A few members of my family of origin attacked me online, spreading lies and demeaning my family. I chose to retreat rather than react and have since worked through some things.
Today’s poem begins another journey, where I am free to speak once again.
Until I Learn to Forget
a new view
from this part
of the spectrum
you tried to
enter my world
I didn’t have to let you in
your true self just
couldn’t stand staying hidden
I fastened my jacket up
as high as it would button
and closed the shades
on my kitchen window
no need for goodbyes
they just induce drama
I’ll sweep up all the dust
after everything’s over
I’ll mop up the mess
of the stench that you left
then I’ll rock back and forth
until I learn to forget
