This is the first Christmas in a long time that I am looking forward to. It’s difficult to be estranged from family this time of year, but I know it’s for the best. The more time that goes by, the more peace in our lives. No one can buy that kind of state of mind!

Joy Will Rain Down Everywhere
this time of year
can be difficult for many
and I am no exception
this year I want to celebrate
and try to leave the past behind
it’s better for the children-
to teach them resilience
to show them strength
they can mimic in the future
to break the cycle of negativity and chaos
building an atmosphere of peace
a time of happiness and laughter
bright smiles and lights to enhance our moments
the holidays are here, and we can enjoy them
shedding off the cloaks of guilt and shame
we deserve to find our freedom
to the evergreen tree, we gladly gaze
a smell of peppermint and pine fills the crisp air
a fireplace burns from down the way
everyone is in their cozy slippers
drinking chocolate and sucking on candy canes
Christmas day is almost here
and we will cherish it this year
as we spread both love and cheer
joy will rain down everywhere
