Hello, My Poetry and Writing Friends!π€
I hope you are well! Thank you for visiting my poetry blog. I appreciate you being here!
.
I’m sure you know someone who has smoked, smoked yourself, or you currently smoke. I smoked for most of my waking days but finally quit a few years ago.
.
You would think I’d know my exact quit date, but I have no idea. I just remember getting so sick I could barely breathe so I quit temporarily. At the time, I thought I had Covid, but tested negative. No nicotine since, and hopefully it remains that way.

One thing I dealt with during my smoking years was damage to my teeth. At one point I didn’t think it would be possible to get my teeth white again.
.
I have since been corrected, and amazed at what can be done. I am not claiming to have gleaming white teeth, but I wouldn’t stick out in a crowd if I smiled. I wouldn’t be standing in a crowd smiling though. I hate crowds.
.
Now I just have my piercings messing up my mouth. No more tar candy for me.

Stains
tantalizing tastes
of tangy, tar-filled
coated candy
the tar stains
sensitive teeth
telling a tale of the treat
a toothbrush is useless
in this situation
itβs like a dye on the tongue
but on the surface of
the once pearly- whites
erasing years of perfection
what a shame

That was kind of a downer. As I read it again, everything just kind of sunk. Maybe it’s the dread from years of being addicted to nicotine. I don’t wish that on my worst enemies. Why would I want my enemies to be nicking out and angry? π€£ππ€£
