She Danced Through Tragedies

~a poem~

she danced through tragedies
within her mind
replacing them with
dark melodic sounds

contorting reality
into bright colours

blending words until
no meaning could be found

she searched out crevices
within her soul

that never had been
touched before

and filled them with a serum 
only madness could comprehend

blending laughter with a language
not even known to her

she began to count
instead of think

she wore a smile instead
of showing the sorrow
that lurked beneath

blocking out tears
erasing years
of tragic happenings
she wanted to forget

she turned her desired screams 
into invisible whispers

she rode a horse above the clouds

within her mind’s eye
she felt the comfort
of mystic creatures all around

she busied herself
with moments like these

just to survive

just to exist

just to breathe

she danced through tragedies
into the night
