She Cries Out In The Streets
~a poem about the need for equality ~
she cries out in the streets
desperate to be heard
many listen to her
but ignore her message
the simpleminded scorn her
and close their eyes to her pleas
they joyfully keep oppressing others
and plotting their evil deeds
she cries out in the streets
and she won’t be silenced
for she knows that her words
could end up resulting in life or death
for the people around her
she cries out in the streets
knowing a whirlwind of destruction
will come to those who do not
heed her warnings
though they may appear to be few
it’s only an illusion and their
existence is but only
a vapour in the dew
she cries out in the streets
as men and women destroy
each other with no regard for the
slave or the free
shameful acts are carried out
and ignorance reigns supreme
if only they opened their
ears and expanded their minds
a change could take place
and they could experience
precious freedom from all sides
within the human race
She cries out in the streets
as people hurry by
for they are too busy to care
as they give up on the fight
to abolish all things that aren’t right
as misery follows them
spreading hatred and inequality
left and right
and brothers and sisters
do not care if they live or die
such a dangerous sight
when corruption pours out
everywhere like a cancer throughout
how can peace be accomplished
how can this mess ever be figured out
she cries out in the streets
speaking truth to the masses
as she walks through clouds of hatred
yet she keeps her eyes focussed
on accomplishing her tasks
despite all of the people
who wish she would be silenced
sometimes she can’t breathe
due to all the corruption
being vomited out on the streets
she cries out in the streets
all she ever wanted lies within
her hope for the world to ultimately be at peace
where no one is judged by the colour of their skin
and everyone chooses to love one another
just the way it should be
she cries out in the streets
will you listen to her message
will you follow her lead
Until next time, stay safe, and be blessed!
