Happy Friday!!!
Hello, hello, hello, and happy Friday! Friday is finally here and soon the weekend will greet us with a smile! I hope that you are all doing well during this crazy day and age of lockdowns, masks, and mass- panic.
It’s unreal to think that before we know it we’ll be headed into the summer season. Hopefully, things will calm down soon.
I’m really excited to be able to get out in the sun again and feel the warm breeze on my skin. Maybe I could even coax my dog, Annie to get into the river this year. Stranger things have happened! 😉
Today’s Poem
Today’s poem is about being in the psych ward. I absolutely hate that place and would rather be thrown in jail.
Every time I go to the psych ward, they give me a few pairs of socks that I end up taking home since they would just throw them away anyway. I don’t know why I hold onto them.
Maybe it’s my hoarding tendencies (Even though I am NOT a full-blown hoarder, just with a few things like old bars of soap), or maybe I’m a glutton for punishment; I’m not sure. Anyway, here we go!
Psych Ward Socks Are All I See
Psych ward socks are all I see
I’m surrounded by the memories
Memories of horrible psych ward walls
Every time I open up my drawers
Psych ward socks are all I see
Remembering again how they treated me
The bruises I so innocently received
Wondering why they had to manhandle me
Remembering getting taken by the police
Remembering the forced injections I received
Psych ward socks are all I see
So I don’t fall, they caution me
Wondering how I lived through it at all
Yet surrounded by people who loved being there
Who just couldn’t wait for the next fatty meal
Psych ward socks are all I see
Surrounded by so many psych ward thoughts
I wonder if they will ever fade away
I wonder if I’ll ever throw away
These psych ward socks that haunt me so much
I wonder if I will ever have to stay
In that awful place again
I hope not, but until then
I need to get rid of all of these
Psych ward socks
They’re all I see
Until next time, stay safe and be blessed!
