Hello Poetry Friends, and I hope you are all doing well! I hope you are enjoying the season you are in, no matter where you are in the world.

It’s hot over here. I am already looking forward to cooler weather, but shhhhh, don’t tell anyone!

Today’s poem is a spiritual poem. I need to write more of these. I have been unloading some emotional baggage lately, but I know better days are here, so it’s time to celebrate it. I don’t mean I will never write any more dark poems, but for today, it’s less heavy. I like days like that. I hope you enjoy today’s poem; here we go!

My Spirit Can Fly

Someday it will break free

underneath this
realm
lies a mysterious force
that cannot
easily be explained

our spirit
and soul 
want to escape
but our bodies
hold us back

sometimes I imagine 
I’m already on the other side 
and I fly around within my mind

in the past
I flew numerous times
within my dreams

flying in dreams
has been one of the most freeing
experiences I’ve ever tried

the dream experience
I believe
is the closest thing
we can get
to understanding
the other side

one day
maybe we will join
the place where
dreams reside

until then
I will continue
to dream
and imagine
all within my mind
