Hello, My Poetry and Writing Friends! 🙂

I hope you are well! Thank you for visiting my poetry blog. I appreciate you being here!

I have lived with mental illness for most of my life. Sometimes I forget that there are people out there that don’t struggle with their mental health. I wonder what their life experience is like. I wonder what it’s like not to swing between mania and depression. I also wonder what it’s like not to have to take medication to get through the day.

I don’t think I will ever know what that’s like because there is no cure for the illnesses I have. I can manage them, but unless something miraculous happens, these conditions are lifelong.

I have accepted my existence and am going through an ongoing process of maintaining a sense of peace with God’s help.

Desperate

twist and turns within your speech
your words, forever strange
anything to get relief
before I go insane
everything I long to be
has disappeared or changed
desperate for a life that’s free
it’s time to rearrange
