Hello, Poetry and Writing Friends! 🙂

Hello, and I hope you are well! I am so glad that you are here! Whether you are a reader, writer, or anything in the middle, I welcome you.

It’s hotter than heck over here, so we are trying to stay cool. I went outside and stood in the sprinkler a few times today, which really helped. I am trying to cool off my dogs, but they don’t appreciate my techniques; they just run off!

Anyways, today’s poem is playing around with daydreams. It can mean whatever you want it to mean. I know what it means to me, but I don’t want to taint it, so I will leave it how it is. I hope you enjoy it! Happy Poetry!

Magical Thoughts

A dream within a dream

I stand on the edge
of the water
feeling the warmth
of the sand between

my busy toes
as I dig deeper
with my curious feet

my hair whisps around wildly
in the vibrant wind

making my mind playfully spin
with fantastical dreams
once willingly forgotten

my mind travels to another
fuzzy thought

and I see him
stoically standing still
amidst the dreary
scattered shadows

dimming now

but I feel his
consuming presence
and it is enough

for I will
never feel his
loving
gentle touch
again in this lifetime

and so I cherish
this reoccurring
dream
within
my mind

Do you still allow yourself to daydream and imagine things? When I was a little kid, playing pretend was one of my favorite things to do. I lived inside of my head and would escape into another world. I still let my mind run wild, and it’s thrilling, really.

I just recently read about people who have trouble imagining at all. Some people can’t visualize things in their minds, and I can’t even imagine not being able to imagine. I think it would be unfortunate to have that issue.

I feel like we all need an escape sometimes, and into our mind can be a good option, especially when it spills out onto the page.

If you ever want to share a poem with me, let me know. I love to read other people’s writing.

~Thanks for reading, and until next time, take care, and be blessed!~ 🙂
