Hello, Poetry and Writing Friends!

Hello, and welcome to my poetry and writing blog. I am so glad you are here! I hope you are all well, and whether you are a reader, a writer, or both, I am delighted to have you here. Even if you are just here to look at the pictures, I welcome you!

Something didn’t cross my mind that my husband said yesterday. He said that some people don’t read.

I don’t know why that didn’t cross my mind, but if people don’t want to read, they might not want to visit here. I have found that Facebook seems filled with a lot of mindless junk (which is fine if you’re into that), but as I explore other platforms, I am finding an active, creative voice of people who enjoy the same types of things as I do. Speaking of what I like to do, today’s poem is about… writing!

Why would I put a (!) after writing? Because writing is my passion. It’s something I loved to do as a child and have always gone back to it when I take a break. When I’m not writing, I’m not as mentally healthy because all the mental mess gets stuck in my head.

When I’m writing, my pain flows out onto the paper. It’s amazing how therapeutic writing can be. If you are a writer, you probably understand, and if you’re an avid reader, you know because writing excites you too. If you’re just here for the pictures, then I hope you enjoy those too. 🙂

OK, it’s poetry time! I hope you enjoy this short poem.

Do You Wish You Could Write All Day?~~Poetry~~

If I had the chance
I could write
all-day
and into the night
until words came
streaming out of my nostrils

*

and any nourishment I needed
came from my pen and my paper

*

if I could write for a lifetime
I would choose it over 
the daily obstacles that life brings

*

but would I run out of things
to write if I didn’t do another thing?

*

or would the material present itself to me
almost like a magic trick
or a carrot on a string?

*

maybe at some point
I would have to take a break from writing

*

and then I’d read something
and go write some more

If you like writing as much as I do, it can be difficult to ever stop writing. Other things need to get done too, so I have been trying to learn how to manage my time.

If you want to be a writer, I believe it’s vital to write every day, so that’s what I have been doing. If I’m not on Medium.com, I’m on here or sharing work on another platform. I love being part of the writing community and hope to be a part of it for many years to come.
