Happy Monday!

Hello, hello, hello, and happy Monday! It is still pretty cold where I am at, and I am really looking forward to it getting warm again. I should cherish these days though because before I know it, I will be complaining about being too hot. Lol 😉

Be Yourself!

Today’s poem talks about my treasures. I have treasured so-called weird things my entire existence. Also, my whole life, people have called me strange, weird, quirky, etc… I used to take offence to this but now I embrace it. Why be like everyone else? I could not be if I tried! It is OK to be different, for it is the spice of life and I sure love spices! I hope you enjoy today’s poem, as well as your day altogether! 🙂

My Treasures

A shiny coin

An unusual button

An old bar of soap

Or a cat claw collection

Braided human hair used for decorations

Scattered around the room

Enjoying paper clips- just like Bert

On Sesame Street

Or liking the number six

Again- just like Bert

At the age of six

Then keeping that number for life

Keeping hold of the little things

Discarding the so-called valuable things

Even desperately trying to give

These so-called valuable things away

This has been my life

As I collect little keepsakes in my treasure box

Things that nobody wants

Things that may look like junk

Things like old bars of soap

Things other people would most likely throw out

Maybe because I have been treated like trash

So many times

That I want to preserve these so-called

Pieces of nothing

Maybe there is symbolism somewhere

Or maybe it is some kind of weird or quirky

Part of me that does not make sense

No matter what it is

It leaves no room to pass

Anything down to the next generation

I doubt that anyone would want my soap collection

Or pieces of cat fur, or cat claws

Or even my collection

Of human hair- braided so nicely

Or maybe they will?

Either way, all I know is that right now

These things are priceless to me.

And they make me smile.
